The term comes from a pronunciation error: the English pilots who flew over France in the First World War, failing to correctly say the expression "venez m’aider" (come to help me), replaced it with a more Anglophone, "Mayday". Mayday is also the name of the lamp that the designer Kostantin Grcic has designed for Flos in 1999 with the goal of "can be useful whenever you need light". The lamp Flos it is inspired by work, in fact also called emergency, that with a hook can be positioned everywhere.

The diffuser is composed of injection-moulded opaline polycarbonate. Practical, useful, handy, thanks to the 260cm long electric cable with pedal dimmer switch that guarantees the ON/OFF functions and the 10-100% luminous flux adjustment, we can place it anywhere to meet all our needs.

The dome that distinguishes the product is a combination of bright and dark elements, arranged in a net made of polyester. Each bright element is powered by special microconnectors, the interior of the dome is always white to allow optimal light emission.
